Yep, that’s true. Growing up, mas gusto ng karamihan ang English vs the Filipino language. I am from Visayas, and we spoke in Hiligaynon, so Tagalog was not really widely spoken.

My and my mother in law were both teachers in the Philippines and they never use Tagalog terms to talk about grammar…and I can’t get why… Tagalog can actually be used quite adequately and even in a scholarly way

Definitely! I used to like Filipino subjects. I preferred it. I even took Humanidades (taught in Tagalog) as opposed to Humanities (taught in English) in uni ☺️
